Irma Aguirre
At the age of 12, she began working on a vegetable farm in Apopka to help the family make ends meet. After several years, life found her as a single mom raising two small children.
Irma Aguirre’s road to homeownership was paved with hard work and perseverance.
Driven by a desire to make a better life for her family, Irma vowed to move them from their one bedroom home without heat and air conditioning and to get an education that would allow for a better job.
Irma discovered Homes In Partnership and jumped at the opportunity to own her own home. After working many long evenings and weekends on the construction site, Irma and her family moved into their new home. “It’s difficult to say what we were feeling when we moved in. Pure joy, I think describes it,” Aguirre says. “The children were elated to have their own rooms and a yard to play in, not to mention heating and air conditioning!”
Irma went on to continue her education through a vocational/technical program were she completed courses that prepared her for a job in the business world. Far from farm work that brought her here, Irma now works for Homes In Partnership as a loan processor and office manager, encouraging other families to purchase their own homes with her inspirational story.
“Homes In Partnership changed my life,” says Aguirre. “It’s all I can do to help others to do the same.”
